What to Wear

Wear comfortable, flexible clothing that allows access to the skin while maintaining modesty. Since MFR is performed directly on the skin without oils or creams, ideal options include:

  • Sports bra & shorts

  • Two-piece swimsuit

  • Loose-fitting workout attire

  • Gym or running shorts

Avoid thick or restrictive fabrics like jeans or spandex, which limit access to the fascia. Private changing room, table warmers, and blankets are available for your comfort.

The Myofascial Release Treatment Experience

Each session is tailored to your needs and may incorporate:

  • Gentle, Sustained Pressure
Applied directly to areas of restriction, allowing the fascia to soften, rehydrate, and release long-held tension—without force.

  • Mobilization & Traction
Slow, intentional movements that help free up tight connective tissue and restore ease and fluidity to your movement.

  • Rebounding
Subtle, wave-like motions that send vibration through the fascial system - stimulating the ground substance to shift from a dense, gel-like state to a more fluid one. This enhances tissue mobility and supports nervous system regulation.

  • Unwinding
A spontaneous, body-led movement response that allows your fascia to release and reorganize - creating space for deep, lasting change.

MFR is designed to be safe and injury-free and is often very relaxing.

  • You are always in control. If at any time you need to ease or pause the treatment, simply communicate, and adjustments will be made.

  • Throughout the session, you’ll be guided to tune in to your body, develop awareness, and be encouraged to let go, and allow your body to release what it no longer needs.

  • We understand that pain and dysfunction are not purely physical - there is often an emotional component intertwined with fascial restrictions. VerveBody practitioners are trained to recognize and gently guide you through this process, allowing for a deeper, more profound healing experience.

  • Importantly, Myofascial Release never pushes or forces. It’s not a “no pain, no gain” approach.

Before Your Session

  • Arrive 10 minutes early to allow time to use the restroom and take a few deep breaths. This transition time helps you shift from the outside world and prepare for your inner work.

  • Please avoid lotions or creams before your session, as they can affect the effectiveness of the hands-on work. Arriving with clean, dry skin ensures the best connection with your fascia.

  • Review Enhancing Your MFR Session to optimized each sessions results.

After Your Session

  • Begin recommended self-treatment techniques (daily).

  • Schedule follow-up sessions to maintain progress.

  • Stay hydrated to support fascial health.

  • Be aware of a potential healing response as your body processes the changes. You might experience increased awareness, soreness, fatigue, or emotional shifts — this is a sign that your body is unwinding and reorganizing. In some cases, a healing crisis can occur, where symptoms temporarily intensify before improving. This happens as deeper restrictions release and your system recalibrates. Listen to your body and honor what it needs. Use self-treatment techniques to soothe any discomfort, stay hydrated, and allow yourself rest if needed. These shifts are part of the healing process, guiding you toward deeper relief and mobility.

Empower Your Recovery Through MFR Self-Treatment

Consistent self-treatment is not extra, it’s essential. Sustain your progress and preventing the return of longstanding holding patterns. As part of your therapy, we provide education in postural and movement awareness, and guidance on recommended self-treatment techniques to help you safely and effectively treat yourself at home.

By committing to self-treatment, you take an active role in your recovery, ensuring long-term relief and a healthy, pain-free life doing what you love!
